Florence has been such a blessing so far. Before we arrived from Paris, we all got together and prayed for opportunities to meet with people, and God more than answered that prayer. So far each one of us has had someone we have been able to share with and get to know. I met two girls from Finland and really got to connect with them. One of the two, Marjo, was very interested in what I believed, which gave me the opportunity to share what I believed with her. She and Anna, the other Finnish girl, really seemed drawn to our group. Bryan also met a guy and got to talk with him too. This experience has been exactly why we came. Our team has seemed to just naturally attract everyone in the hostel to us and each night we’ve been able to meet with others.

On a lighter note, Neal and I have now tried every Magnum bar imaginable and concluded that Double Chocolate is the best. We also made it a point to find the world’s best Gelato, and have averaged three places a day. Finally we chose Gelateria Del Neri as our favorite. Keep Marjo and Anna in your prayers, along with all the others we’ve met so far.
Changing Lives to Change the World

The highest point in Athens... After walking for miles up this mountain in search of a train, that is apparently nonexistent, I just hiked up. (Close your eyes and I’ll give you an image of what I’m seeing, are they closed now? Ok, good.) As I look to the southwest, for miles I see city, white stone houses, and in the midst of them is the site of the 2004 Olympics. This is the wealthy side of town and most of these houses have pools on top of them. (Now turn to your right, and you see the Acropolis, and Parthenon sitting on top of it. Then a little more right is the Aeropagus. I opened my bible to Acts 17 and began reading about when Paul went to the Aeropagus and talked with the people about God. I could not believe I was looking at the place where he once was, and later that day, I stood on that rock where he was.
This is the view I see from the top of my hostel every morning. I believe Athens is the most amazing place I’ve ever been. In the background of Athens is a mountain range that almost surrounds it.
When we first arrived here, our hostel was almost like animal house, but even in this place, our team has been able to talk with 2 people, a guy from Canada, and then a girl from Mobile, AL, about what we believe and their interest really seemed to be peaked. God has truly been working on our trip through us. I think he has renewed my passion for sharing the gospel and I can’t wait to see what else he has left for me here.

Because our next stop was SUPPOSED to be Charlotte, to Philadelphia, THEN to Amsterdam, however as we arrived in Charlotte, we soon learned our plane had left already, and Woody (the self-proclaimed (THE MAN) ) told us not to worry, our luggage was probably ok. This is where the adventure began, We jumped on a plane destined for Germany, then from there we made it to Amsterdam. All this time, I haven’t slept a minute and we arrive in Amsterdam at 4 am Mobile, AL time.

Bryan and I walked around the city for a little while and began to see the beauty and also the reality of what Amsterdam is. We sat down to eat and got a croissant and “normal Coke” (water is twice the cost of coke). After our waiter did a stare-off with us for about 30 seconds before talking AT ALL to us, I realized, talking with people here is going to be more difficult than I thought. Americans stick out here like sore thumbs, and people are not over anxious to help us. I’m really excited to be here, this is really going to be a great experience.
Now, after over a year of planning, studying cities, and raising money, we are ready to leave! I’m so thankful to everyone who has contributed both monetarily and through prayer, without your faithful dedication this would not have been possible. I want to continue to ask for your prayers for the people we will come in contact with and for our safety as we travel.

EUROPE!!! I am so excited about this chance, and want to make sure I make the most of every opportunity while here. Continue to check out these blogs. (P.S. I’m sure ones to follow will be a bit more lighthearted, and sometimes maybe even shorter. Next Stop, Amsterdam!
